I found this note in a notebook I hadn’t written in for over two years. This note was inspired by the book “The 6 Habits of Growth” by Brendon Burchard.
I decided to start reading something positive in the morning because reading “activates the thinking pattern” (this is also from that book).
The first question was: but what should I read? I can’t read the news or articles—they’re often too long or too stressful. Then I quickly remembered that Amanda has a book called About Presence by Carlos L’Abbate. The unique aspect of this book is that you can open it to any page and read a short story in under 10 minutes, making it perfect for a morning read. (I guess poetry books also work really well.)
After reading one story, I thought about how reading allows us to live more than we have time for. Things in reality happen much slower than in a book. By reading, we can accelerate time and leap through experiences.
I got up from the chair by the window, poured myself some more coffee, took a sip, and headed to the desk where I usually work. I stuck the fallen hop cone-shaped note back and thought: Today is going to be a good day.
